Meet ICON JONZU

Also from New York, Born in the Bronx and raised in Harlem, Jonzu takes pride in his beautiful black skin and being a black gay man. He serves in a dual-role on THISISBLACKGROUND, both as a model and as Lead Stylist.
A home or office space that celebrates infusions of Caribbean and American culture would come to life with this portrait. “My parents are carribean, Mother Jamaican and Father Trinidadian. I was raised with a melting pot of carribean and American culture,” he says. Since his teenage years, he has resided in Rochelle, New York.

A feeling of calm, resolve, and a confident, bold, unapologetic beauty emanates from the image of Jonzu.
Seeing his casting experiences as a celebration of people’s unique ability to be persuaded to go in a different direction than the one they initially had in mind, Jonzu says, “For me personally, I have generally been booked based on my unique look and aesthetic. I am black but I don’t look like the typical black model. I have also booked projects that called for white models, which goes to show that people can be swayed from the typical and ‘standard’ look.

Jonzu’s portrait best suits interior spaces designed for creatives looking to be inspired by new, exciting, and unconventional ideas. His image is one that celebrates our human spirit of strenghth and our strange but remarkable ability to be transformed into the best of humanity.

The print is signed on the back by the artist Giovanni Martins and also includes a certificate of authenticity and serial number. (Limited to 15 prints)
