Meet ICON T-Agé

T-Agé Anadi has spent most of her life in the Bronx, New York, and considers herself to be a product of strong, intelligent, and loving women in her family.
She finds beauty in the narratives of these women, in some way living her life to reflect their values, nurturing but determined and independent spirit. She has lived briefly in Argentina and New Orleans, but in every place that she has lived, “I have found that my blackness is the thing that has set me apart,” she recalls.
Like many of our icons, T-Agé has often been chosen for atypical opportunities traditionally unoccupied by a majority of black people.

She, like our creator Giovanni Martins, recalls unique moments in her fashion career where she was either forewarned or made to feel different about the highly selective process with her being a person of color. “I once booked a job for a European client and on the casting email it said they were specifically looking for a girl who was ‘colored’. I’d like to believe things got lost in translation.”

However, the most defining feature of T-Agé, her iconic portrait being mounted on or beautifully hung in your dining room, living room, kitchen, guest room, office, or family room wall is her wanting to invite other young black and brown infused young girls into these warm and welcoming spaces to find beauty in their image and know that it is celebrated by others.
